The partnership

Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Will Solicitors

Yorkshire Air Ambulance is an independent charity that flies two helicopter emergency medical teams across Yorkshire, from its bases at Nostell near Wakefield and RAF Topcliffe near Thirsk. It is paid for by donations from the public, and gifts left in wills keep a large part of that service in the air.

We work with Yorkshire Air Ambulance because the charity gets no government or NHS money, and half of its missions are paid for by gifts in wills. As a supporter, your first consultation call with us is free and there is no obligation. Our fees are fixed and published, from £150 + VAT for a single will or £275 + VAT for a pair of mirror wills, and you know the price before any work starts. If you would like to remember the charity in your will, we write the gift in for you.

Why it matters

Looking after the people behind the charity

Yorkshire Air Ambulance gets no government or NHS money, and the charity says half of its missions are paid for by gifts in wills.

If you support it today, your will is the simplest way to keep that support going. A will also does the basic job of protecting the people you love. It names who inherits, who sorts things out, and who looks after any children. Many supporters live across a large county with long journeys between family members, so it helps to have clear documents in place. A lasting power of attorney sits alongside it, letting someone you trust make decisions if an accident or illness means you cannot.

Your questions

Questions from Air ambulance supporters

Cannot see yours? Ask it on your free consultation call.

Is Will Solicitors one of Yorkshire Air Ambulance's will-writing partners?

Yes. The charity's own page on leaving a gift in your will lists WillSolicitor.co.uk among the firms it works with. You still choose freely what goes in your will. There is no requirement to leave anything to the charity, and our fees are the same fixed fees shown on our prices page.

What details do I need to leave a gift to the air ambulance?

We need the charity's full name and registered charity number so the gift reaches the right organisation. Yorkshire Air Ambulance publishes these on its website, and we check them with you on the consultation call. You can leave a fixed sum, a particular item, or a share of what is left after other gifts.

Should I leave a fixed sum or a share of my estate?

A fixed sum is easy to understand, but its value can shrink over time with inflation. A share of what remains keeps pace with the size of your estate and is paid only after your family and friends have received their gifts. Your adviser explains both in plain terms so you can choose what feels right.

Can I do this without travelling?

Yes. Everything starts with a consultation call, so it suits supporters from Sheffield to the Dales and the coast. You speak to a named adviser, approve a draft before anything is signed, and we explain clearly how to sign so your will is valid.
