Will Aid
Solicitors and eight charities, every November.
Will Aid and Will Solicitors
Will Aid is a long-running partnership between solicitors and eight UK charities: Age UK, British Red Cross, Christian Aid, Crisis, NSPCC, Shelter, SCIAF and Trocaire. Each November, participating solicitors write basic wills without charging their usual fee. Instead, clients are invited to make a voluntary donation to the Will Aid charities. The suggested donation is £120 for a single basic will and £200 for a pair of mirror wills. The scheme says it has raised over £20 million for charity.
Will Aid exists to get people making wills, and we share that aim all year round. If you need more than a basic will, such as a trust or a lasting power of attorney, we can help. Your first consultation call is free and carries no obligation. Our fees are fixed and published, from £150 + VAT for a single will or £275 + VAT for a pair of mirror wills, and you know the price before any work starts. If you would like to remember the Will Aid charities in your will, we write the gift in for you.
Looking after the people behind the charity
Will Aid exists because so many people put off making a will, and a November campaign gives them a reason to act. If the scheme has prompted you, that momentum is worth keeping.
A basic will is ideal for straightforward estates. If you own property abroad, have children from more than one relationship, want a trust or are worried about care fees, you may need more than a basic will. Will Aid also leaves out lasting powers of attorney, which many people need just as much. A conversation with an adviser helps you see what your situation calls for.

Cannot see yours? Ask it on your free consultation call.
Can I make my will through Will Aid with you?
Will Aid runs in November through participating solicitors, and you can check who is taking part using the Will Aid find a solicitor tool. Book a free consultation call and your adviser will explain how we can help, and whether your will fits the scheme or needs our standard fixed fee, before any work starts.
What counts as a basic will under Will Aid?
Will Aid describes a basic will as one leaving your estate to a few family members, friends or charities, with a couple of executors, no assets outside the UK and no need for detailed inheritance tax advice. Trusts and powers of attorney fall outside it. Your adviser will tell you on the call which category you are in.
Does Will Aid cover lasting powers of attorney?
No. Will Aid only covers basic wills, so lasting powers of attorney are charged separately. Many people choose to arrange their LPAs at the same time as their will so everything is in place together. Your adviser will confirm the fee for LPAs on the consultation call, before anything goes ahead.
Can I also leave a gift to the Will Aid charities in my will?
Yes. Will Aid says you can leave a legacy to one or more of its charities, such as Age UK or Shelter. This is separate from the donation made in place of a fee, which cannot be directed to one charity. Your adviser can word a gift so it reaches the charity you choose.
