The partnership

Sale FC and Will Solicitors

Sale FC is a semi-professional rugby union club founded in 1861, making it one of the oldest surviving rugby clubs in the world. It has played at Heywood Road in Sale since 1905 and trains at Carrington, where more than 350 children take part in minis and juniors rugby on Sundays. The club runs men's sides including the first XV, Vikings and Norseman, women's teams under the Sale FC 1861 name, girls' rugby and colts. Sale FC is a separate club from the professional Sale Sharks.

Sunday mornings at Carrington are full of parents juggling mortgages, careers and young children, and many have not yet made a will. It is the only way to name a guardian and choose who manages money left to your children. As a Sale FC member, parent or supporter, your first consultation call is free with no obligation. Our fees are fixed and published, from £150 + VAT for a single will or £275 + VAT for a pair of mirror wills, and you know the price before any work starts.

Why it matters

Looking after the people behind the club

With hundreds of children training at Carrington every Sunday, Sale FC is home to a large community of parents. Many are juggling mortgages, careers and young families, and have not yet got round to making a will.

It is the only way to name a guardian for your children and to decide who would manage any money left to them. A club this old also has generations of members who have built up homes and savings and want to pass them on carefully. Whatever your stage, a will and lasting power of attorney keep the decisions with you.

Your questions

Questions from Sale FC members

Cannot see yours? Ask it on your free consultation call.

My children play minis and juniors at Sale FC. Can I set an age for them to inherit?

Yes. By law children can inherit outright at 18, but in your will you can set up a trust so they receive money at a later age, such as 21 or 25. You choose trustees to manage it until then. Your adviser will explain how this works and help you choose sensible ages.

Do I need an LPA if I am married?

Being married does not give your spouse automatic authority over your finances or health decisions if you lose capacity. Joint accounts can help in the short term, but property and other assets in your sole name may be frozen. An LPA gives your chosen person clear legal authority to act for you.

What do I need to have ready for the consultation call?

Just a rough picture of your family and what you own, such as your home, savings, pensions and any life cover. Think about who you would want as executors and, if you have children, as guardians. You do not need exact figures, and your adviser will guide you through the rest.

Is this service for Sale Sharks fans?

This page is for the Sale FC community, the amateur and semi-professional rugby club at Heywood Road and Carrington, including members, players, parents and volunteers. That said, anyone can book a free consultation call, and every client receives the same published fixed fees.
