The UK's largest men's health charity.

The partnership

Prostate Cancer UK and Will Solicitors

Prostate Cancer UK is the UK's largest men's health charity, working towards a world where no man dies of prostate cancer. It began in 1996 as the Prostate Cancer Charity and took its current name after a merger in 2012. It funds research, including a major trial into the best way to screen men, and supports men and their families through specialist nurses, a helpline and health information. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in the UK.

We work with Prostate Cancer UK because a diagnosis so often prompts a family to sort out the paperwork they have put off. Book your free first consultation call, with no obligation to go further. Our fees are fixed and published, from £150 + VAT for a single will or £275 + VAT for a pair of mirror wills, and you know the price before any work starts. Gifts in wills make up around a quarter of the charity's income. If you would like to remember it in your will, we include the gift with the correct charity details.

Why it matters

Looking after the people behind the charity

Many people who support Prostate Cancer UK do so because a husband, father, brother or friend has been affected. A diagnosis often prompts a family to sort out the paperwork they have been putting off.

A will makes clear who inherits and who deals with your affairs. A lasting power of attorney lets someone you trust act for you if treatment or illness means you cannot manage money or make decisions for a while. Doing both together, while you are well and thinking clearly, saves your family a great deal of stress later. The charity says gifts in wills make up around a quarter of its income, so a gift can also fund future research.

Your questions

Questions from Prostate Cancer UK supporters

I have just been diagnosed. Is it too soon to think about a will?

It is never too soon, and having a will does not mean expecting the worst. Many men simply find a diagnosis is the push they needed. We keep the conversation practical and calm. Your adviser takes you through who you want to look after, who should act for you, and whether a lasting power of attorney makes sense now.

How do I leave a gift to Prostate Cancer UK in my will?

Tell your adviser on the consultation call. We use the charity's full name and registered charity number so the gift reaches the right place. You can leave a set amount, a particular item, or a share of what remains once your family and friends have received their gifts. You can change your mind later.

Should my partner and I make wills together?

Many couples choose mirror wills, which are two wills that largely match each other. They are a good fit when you both want the same things, such as everything passing to each other and then to your children. Your adviser checks that mirror wills suit your situation and confirms the fixed fee before any work starts.

What happens if I cannot make decisions during treatment?

Without a lasting power of attorney, your family may have to apply to the court for permission to act for you, which takes time. An LPA lets you choose in advance who can handle your money or your health and care decisions. We explain the two types and help you put them in place.
