North Cestrian and Will Solicitors
North Cestrian School is a secondary school on Dunham Road in Altrincham, Cheshire, teaching pupils from Year 7 to Year 11. It was founded in 1951 by Walter Hamblin, who had just retired as headmaster of Altrincham Grammar School for Boys. The school began as a boys only school and has been co-educational since 2008. In 2016 it became an Academy Free School and joined the Hamblin Education Trust, the trust that carries its founder's name, while keeping its grammar school traditions.
We have teamed up with North Cestrian because its families have children who will be under 18 for years to come, the very time when naming a guardian matters most. As a North Cestrian parent, you pay nothing for the first consultation call and you are not committed to anything. Our fees are fixed and published, from £150 + VAT for a single will or £275 + VAT for a pair of mirror wills, and you know the price before any work starts.
Looking after the people behind the school
North Cestrian teaches children between Year 7 and Year 11, so most families here have children who will be under 18 for several years yet.
That is the window in which naming a guardian matters most. If both parents died without wills, a court could end up deciding who brings your children up. A will removes that uncertainty. It also lets you choose who looks after money for your children, and when they receive it. For parents who are not married, it matters even more, because an unmarried partner has no automatic right to inherit. A lasting power of attorney completes the picture if you ever lose capacity.
How we can help you and your family
Every service starts with the same free consultation call.

We are not married. Do we both need wills as North Cestrian parents?
It is strongly worth it. Without a will, an unmarried partner has no automatic right to inherit, however long you have been together. Each of you can make a will naming the other, choosing guardians and deciding what your children receive. If you want matching wills, mirror wills for a couple start from £275 + VAT.
Who should we choose as guardian?
Most parents choose someone who shares their values and has a settled home, often a sibling or close friend. It is wise to ask them first and to name a back up in case your first choice cannot act. You can also leave a letter of wishes about schooling and upbringing. Your adviser can talk you through the options.
How long does it take?
The first step is a consultation call with a named adviser, which is free and carries no obligation. If you go ahead, the fee is confirmed on that call. You then receive a draft to read and approve before anything is signed, so you can take your time and ask questions along the way.
It all starts with one free call
You talk it through with a named member of our team. We tell you what you actually need and what it will cost, and nothing goes ahead until you are happy.

- STEP 1Pick a time that suits youChoose a slot in our calendar, including evenings and Saturdays. It takes a minute and there is no form to fill in first.
- STEP 2Get a few things togetherWe tell you what to have to hand. Usually the names and addresses of the people you want to appoint and inherit, and a rough idea of what you own.
- STEP 3Approve your draftOnce you are happy with what we discussed, we prepare a draft for you to read and approve before anything is signed.
