The partnership

Heyrose Golf Club and Will Solicitors

Heyrose Golf Club is an 18 hole, par 73 parkland course on Budworth Road in Tabley, near Knutsford in Cheshire. It opened in 1989 and sits among ancient woodland, wildlife and water features, close to junction 19 of the M6. Heyrose is now a members' club and welcomes new members, with categories ranging from juniors aged 11 to 18 through colts and intermediates to full seven day and five day memberships, plus joint membership for couples. There is a pro shop and a restaurant and terrace.

Many Heyrose members own their homes, have pensions and investments, and want to provide for children or grandchildren, so a will deserves proper thought. Couples on a joint membership often want wills that mirror each other, and some are weighing up inheritance tax or a second marriage. As a Heyrose Golf Club member, you can book your first consultation call free, with no obligation. Our fees are fixed and published, from £150 + VAT for a single will or £275 + VAT for a pair of mirror wills, and you know the price before any work starts.

Why it matters

Looking after the people behind the club

Many Heyrose members are at a stage of life where a will needs more thought. You may own your home outright, have pensions and investments, and have children or grandchildren you want to provide for.

Some members join with a partner on a joint membership and want arrangements that mirror each other. Others are thinking about inheritance tax, second marriages or how care fees could affect what they pass on. An up to date will and lasting powers of attorney give you control over all of this. They also spare your family difficult decisions and delays later.

Your questions

Questions from Heyrose members

Cannot see yours? Ask it on your free consultation call.

My will is over ten years old. Should a Heyrose Golf Club member like me review it?

It is worth checking. Wills often go out of date after a house move, a new grandchild, a death in the family, a marriage or a divorce. Tax rules and your own wealth may also have changed. A free consultation call is a simple way to find out whether your current will still does what you want.

Can a will help with inheritance tax?

A well planned will can make use of the allowances available, for example when passing your home to children or grandchildren, and gifts to charity can reduce tax too. Every estate is different. Your adviser will look at your circumstances on the call and explain, in general terms, whether estate planning could help you.

What is the difference between the two types of LPA?

A property and financial affairs LPA covers your bank accounts, bills, investments and property. A health and welfare LPA covers decisions about medical treatment, care and where you live. Health and welfare LPAs only come into use if you lose capacity. Many people make both so that every area of life is covered.

I have been married before. Is that a complication?

It is common and very manageable. You may want to provide for a current spouse while making sure children from an earlier marriage eventually inherit. A trust in your will can often achieve both. Your adviser will listen to what you want and explain the options in plain terms before anything is drafted.
