Centrepoint and Will Solicitors
Centrepoint describes itself as the UK's leading youth homelessness charity. It has been working with young people since 1969 and supports those aged 16 to 25 who have nowhere safe to live. It runs 60 services across London, Yorkshire, Manchester and the North East of England. Young people get a place to stay along with health support and life skills, helping them move into education, training and work. Residents can stay for up to two years, with six months of support after they leave.
We work with Centrepoint because its supporters care about young people getting a fair start, and a will gives your own family that start. It is also where you name guardians for children under 18. Your first consultation call is free, with nothing to sign up to. Our fees are fixed and published, from £150 + VAT for a single will or £275 + VAT for a pair of mirror wills, and you know the price before any work starts. If you would like to remember Centrepoint in your will, we write the gift in for you.
Looking after the people behind the charity
Many Centrepoint supporters care about young people getting a fair start. A will is how you give that same security to your own family.
It decides who inherits, and if you have children under 18 it lets you name guardians, so a court does not have to decide. Without a will, the law sets out who receives your estate, and that may not match your wishes, particularly if you are not married to your partner. Once your family is provided for, Centrepoint suggests a small percentage of your estate as a gift. That can help a young person move from a hostel bed to a home of their own.
How we can help you and your family
Every service starts with the same free consultation call.

Questions from Centrepoint supporters
Cannot see yours? Ask it on your free consultation call.
Can I leave a percentage of my estate to Centrepoint rather than a fixed amount?
Yes. Centrepoint itself suggests a small percentage once you have provided for your loved ones. A percentage, often called a residuary gift, keeps its value as your estate grows and is paid only after your other gifts. Your adviser writes it in using the charity's correct name and registered number.
I am young and do not own a home. Do I need a will?
Probably more than you think. A will covers savings, pensions, belongings and digital accounts, not just property. It also lets you choose who looks after any children. If you live with a partner but are not married, a will is the main way to make sure they inherit. The consultation call costs nothing.
Will a gift to Centrepoint reduce what my family receives?
Only by the amount you choose. Many people decide on their family's share first and then leave a small part to charity. Gifts to charity can also reduce inheritance tax on larger estates. Your adviser explains, in general terms, how this works for an estate like yours before you decide anything.
