The partnership

CAFT and Will Solicitors

CAFT, the Children's Adventure Farm Trust, is a charity based at Booth Bank Farm in Millington, Cheshire. It gives children from across the North West day trips, residential breaks and seasonal activities, free of charge. The children it welcomes are 17 and under and include those living with illness, complex medical needs, special educational needs, disability or social disadvantage. For many families, a visit to the farm is a rare chance to get away and have fun together.

We work with CAFT because its families often need a will that names who cares for their child and sets up a trust, so an inheritance supports a disabled child without affecting the help they receive. The first consultation call is free, and carries no obligation at all. Our fees are fixed and published, from £150 + VAT for a single will or £275 + VAT for a pair of mirror wills, and you know the price before any work starts. If you would like more children to enjoy the farm, we write a gift to CAFT into your will.

Why it matters

Looking after the people behind the charity

Many people who support CAFT are parents or carers of a child with complex needs, or know a family who is. For those families a will does more than pass on money.

It names who would care for your child, and it can set up a trust so any inheritance supports a disabled child without affecting the help they receive. Getting the wording right matters. A lasting power of attorney also protects you, so someone you trust can step in if you are ill. Supporters who have seen what a day at the farm means to a child may also wish to leave a gift, so more children can enjoy one.

Your questions

Questions from CAFT supporters

Cannot see yours? Ask it on your free consultation call.

My child has complex needs. How can my will protect them?

Your will can name guardians and set out how money is held for your child. Some families use a trust so an inheritance is managed for a disabled child by people you choose, which can help protect access to support. Your adviser explains the options in plain terms and drafts something you approve.

Can I leave a gift to the Children's Adventure Farm Trust?

Yes. We use the charity's registered name, The Children's Adventure Farm Trust Ltd, and its charity number, 1003675, so the gift reaches CAFT. You can leave a set amount or a share of your estate after your family is provided for. You do not have to tell the charity, though many people choose to.

I work or volunteer at CAFT. Is this service for me?

Yes. Anyone connected to CAFT can book a free consultation call, whether you are staff, a volunteer or a family who has visited the farm. There is no obligation to go further, and if you go ahead the fixed fee is confirmed before any work starts.
